SOME ROADS ARE BLOCKED BUT SHOULD OPEN UP QUICKLY AS SOON AS CITY FIRE CLEARS THE SCENE. LIVE IN SKY NINE, STU MUNDEL. BACK TO YOU. ELSA: HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY A 38000 LUXURY CAR FOR THE VERY LOW LOW PRICE OF $9000? DOESN’T SOUND TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? THAT’S BECAUSE POLICE SAY IT IS. HERE’S STACY BUTLER. Reporter: IF IT’S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT’S PROBABLY TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. THIS MAN ASKED US NOT TO SHOW HIS FACE BUT HE WANTS YOU TO KNOW HIS STORY. IT STARTED WITH A SEARCH FOR A USED AUDI ON CRAIGSLIST. POLICE SAY MICHAEL GARDUNO WAS TRYING TO SELL THIS AUDI HE DIDN’T OWN ON CRAIGSLIST FOR A STEEP DISCOUNT FOR $9000 CASH. HE AGREED TO AGREED TO MEET THE VICTIM AT THIS BMW DEALERSHIP IN SANTA ANA WEARING A POLAR SHIRT WITH A BMW LOGO. THE DEALERSHIP HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS UP TO. POLICE SAY IT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY RING. HE SAID HE HAD IT ON CONSIGNMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLE. Reporter: LOOKING BACK THE VICTIM SAID THERE WERE RED FLAG. HE WANTED ME TO CHECK OUT THE CAR WITHOUT HIM BEING THERE. HE WANTED ME TO DO THE TRANSACTION OUTSIDE THE DEALERSHIP. Reporter: THEIR TEXT TELL THE REST OF THE STORY. THEY USED A THROW AWAY PHONE. IF YOU COULD WAIT FOR ME, THAT WOULD BE GOOD. IN LESS YOU TELL THEM ANYTHING, JUST TELL THEM YOU’RE LOOKING. THE BORROWER WROTE, IT’S JUST TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, ITS, IT’S DAIRY, YOU UNDERSTAND WHERE I’M COMING FROM. Reporter: HE STILL WAS SUSPICIOUS BUT PAID HIM THE CASH. THE VICTIM WAS SITTING INSIDE THE DEALERSHIP WAITING FOR HIS KEYS WHEN HIS FATHER NOTICED THAT THE SUSPECT HAD SLIPPED OUT THE BACK.
