Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors
grabbed third spot in terms of hybrid electric vehicle sales last year.
According to data released on Monday by Japanese auto research firm FOURIN， the two Korean
automakers sold nearly 77－thousand－500 environmentally friendly cars in 2014.
They trailed Japanese manufacturers Toyota with sales of over one－million units and
Honda with 279－thousand units. Hyundai and Kia have been seeing a rise in
their global hybrid car sales since they launched the Avante and the Forte LPi six years ago.
The automakers plan to increase their line－up of eco－friendly cars to 22 models by the
end of 2020.
