How to Load a Motorcycle onto a Ramp Trailer

How to Load a Motorcycle onto a Ramp Trailer

Hi, I’m Sperry Hutchinson. Today I’m going to show you how to load a
motorcycle into a U-Haul Ramp Trailer. Prior to loading, engage the parking break
on the towing vehicle and verify that the coupler hand wheel is tight and that the safety
chains are secure. Remove the two latch pins on each side and
lower the ramp gate until it rests on the ground. This ramp is equipped with spring assistance
so you may have to give it a slight push to get it down to the ground. Begin preparing the trailer by placing 4 ratchet
straps inside the trailer, hooking one end of each strap to a trailer tie-down. Load the motorcycle into the trailer, guiding
it forward so that the front wheel is positioned in the wheel chock. Begin securing the motorcycle with ratchet
straps. Check your motorcycle’s owner’s manual for
recommended attachment points. Tighten the ratchet straps evenly, ensuring
that the motorcycle stays vertical and being careful to not fully compress the suspension. Secure the rear ratchet straps to a solid
point on the rear of the motorcycle frame or swing arm, being careful to avoid any break
lines or electrical wiring. Ensure the motorcycle is secure and that the
four ratchet straps are tightened evenly. Finally, close and secure the ramp gate using
the latch pins. For more information, visit uhaul.com, or
refer to the users guide available at your U-Haul Store.
