  1. Classic GM, during a massive pandemic and global health crisis all they can think of is their bottom line…

I received a text with a picture of a Memo that General Motors Cami plant in Ingersoll, Ontario issued to their workers today. Letter was informing the workers of a layoff which will be effective as of Monday, March 23rd.

The letter was written by Kevin Sandham, department of employee relations.

    Part of Letter below:

"Due to Market Conditions CAMI Assembly will commence a temporary layoff from March 22nd to April 4th…

The possibility exists that this temporary layoff will be extended due to prevailing market conditions…"

Not a single word acknowledging that we need to do everything in our power to curve down the spread of the Covid-19 virus, not a word expressing concern over workers, their families and community health, decision was driven by market conditions. Even such devastating virus as this is not opening GM's eyes. They continue only to care about bottom line and nothing else matters. One day world will be free of GM, and despite some job losses it will be a better place.
